Kodak does not recognize .png files and I use Kodak for filing and adjusting
all my photos. I have not been successful with "save as" or "open with" or
anything else I've been instructed to do. Help! I just want to get a photo
project done. Thanks!

You should be able to open the file in MSPaint and use the *save as*.

www.irfanview.com is a free program and does a good job with batch
conversions. Get the plug-ins that are offered too if you decide to use
Irfanview.
