First, you have to make a cut-out (think paper doll)
of the subject/s you wish to remove from the current
picture. Then......you layer the cut-out on the new
background and adjust the size and position to make
it look believable.

The following tutorial will give you an idea of what I'm
talking about.

With some experience and practice...the following
free software can make cut-outs.
