Office XP (2002) Fully Updated
Microsoft XP SP3 Fully Updated
Java Fully Updated

When trying to download .png clips from Microsoft Online I get a
Catastrophic Failure message. .JPG format works fine. I tried the
suggestions in a similar post to no avail. Further suggestions needed!

This is what I have found:
http://www.techtalkz.com/microsoft-design-gallery/236173-error-code-0x8000ffff.html

It seems that Clip Organizer was updated in XP SP3 and png files can no
longer be downloaded. My only choices seem to be to either downgrade to SP2
or go without the .png downloads...

I posted a request in your other message, I will ask again. Can you direct me to
a .png image from the Office site so I can test this?

This isn't my post, but I'm having the same problem--didn't realize at first
that it was because there were PNGs included in my clipart cart, but I just
tried downloading JPGs and they worked fine; a single PNG, however, won't
download. This makes me want to uninstall SP3, for sure.

An example of clipart is this file or a recycling symbol I was trying to
download:

j0440104.png

Try searching for that at the Office clipart site.

(I'm running XP SP3 and Office XP.)

Thanks.

I downloaded this clip without the error. I have every update Microsoft has to
offer installed. I simply don't know what causes the error, but I suspect it is
more a Windows problem than an Office problem.
