How do I resolve error 0x80004005 in Clip Organizer?

I'm unable to load any clips or other images in Clip Organizer 2002. It says
"Cannot complete specified operation: Error 0x80004005" and stops. How can I
resolve this so I can load clips and download them from Office Online
successfully?

One alternate method which saved me is by discarding customised settings
using Detect and Repair option under the help menu. It was the last option
after trying everything.
