I am getting the following error at random times when trying to insert
clipart in any Office 2007 program. "Clip Organizer cannot complete the
operation. Error Code 0x800C000B." The user is able to search for clipart
and gets results from the internet, but when they try and insert an internet
clip the computer freezes for a few minutes and displays this message. I
have not been able to find anything on this error code. The problem happens
randomly to different users on different computers. It started happening
last week sometime. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

I'd do some clean-up. In Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Delete. You
will want to delete the temporary files.
This is the only reference I can find to your error:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms695782(VS.85).aspx

It only says it is a time-out server error.

I think it has to do with the new catalog office2010. The latest updates have change the catalog address and will not display clipart in office 2010. This also effects 03 and 07 however you can see the thumbnail in earlier versions but not in 2010. I don't know how to change the catalog but that could fix the problem.

I teach microsfot software all over town and have started getting this
message a every location. As you said it seems intermittant and
unpredictable...but a pain in the neck. It freezes up the computer for a few
minutes and then sends the same error you seem to be getting. I've been
doing research this morning to find the problem...and to correct it. I don't
have time to mess around with a simple fucntion like clip art...not
working...What's the deal!?

Exact same issue here. Have been having it for the past few days. I've
noticed that MS has changed a lot of img urls to office2010.microsoft.com and
office2010img.vo.msecnd.net recently. Even after whitelisting the MS
addresses in our firewall, we continue to see the exact same issues where the
thumbnail images load but as soon as you try to insert one, the pc freezes in
Office2007 and the error code 0X0800C0008 shows up shortly thereafter. I've
even tried to repair office and the clip organizer to no avail. Would love
to see what issue caused this and when there's a fix available! This is
really annoying, especially when it affects all of our 15,000 users.

Wow, I thought this was just me, doing something stupid....but it seems many
others are experiencing it too.
Very frustrating as everything worked fine yesterday! I'm anxious to hear
what fixes might be available too.

Same issue. Pretty sure it's not us. Any news from MS would be
appreciated.

We are having the same issue at a regional polytechnic in New Zealand.

Our users have an issue where Word / PowerPoint (Office 2007 Enterprise)
will preview clipart in the Task Pane, but is giving an error
code of 0x800C000B when they try to insert the clipart image.

We have already white-listed the microsoft clipart addresses, with no
success.

If Mary, or any other MVPs have any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matthew

I tested the same thing at home last night and had the exact same results
with the lockup/error code. I'm back in the office this morning and tested
it and all appears to be fixed! I'm able to insert any images from the web
collections. Anyone else seeing similar results today?

I did some more research with this problem on my computer. I installed
Microsoft Network Monitor and started watching the packets after the
thumbnails loaded when I tried inserting clipart. I can see my computer
doing a 3-way TCP handshake with the Microsoft clipart server, my computer
does an HTTP request to get the clipart, and the server responds with a TCP
ack. There is no traffic between my computer and the Microsoft server for
2.5 mintues and then I get a HTTP response from the Microsoft server with
HTTP status code 504 (Gateway Timeout). Below is my log with my IP switched
to 1.1.1.1.

I haven't found a solution yet, but it is nice to see I am not the only
person experiencing this issue anymore.
