Does anyone know how to create a DVD (playable in a DVD player) once I have
converted the file to a Windows Media Player format? I've been checking into
different software and have come across Ulead DVD Movie Factory. (When I
create my DVD I am only able to play in Windows Media player and not on a
standard DVD player)

Thanks.

Did you create a Video DVD or a Data DVD?

Can you explore the files on the DVD you
created and see what the file extensions are?

It would be beneficial if you told us what you were trying to burn on to the
DVD. John is asking you whether you're going from an .avi, .mov, mpeg, etc.
to dvd format or just storing files on a DVD. I'll just ask are you trying
to view pictures or clips from a camcorder or camera playable on a dvd
player? Ulead has some great applications for video editing and burning.
There are a million conversion shareware utilities out there for around
$30-$40 that convert from .avi to dvd and burn the disc (assuming that you
have a dvd burner). Media player is ok for viewing video dvd's, but it
doesn't burn them. It burns data dvd's. Have you tried Window's (Vista) DVD
Maker?

Thanks for everyone's reply. Sorry for the last response. I am creating a
sports DVD with scanned pictures and music that I would like to be able to
play in a DVD player.

First I created my project in Windows Movie Maker but could only save to a
CD and play on my computer. This in turn created a "wmv" file (this does not
play on my DVD player but will play in Windows Media Player). I then tried
creating the dvd in Ulead Movie Factory and it automatically created my TS
Video and TS Audio files. When I put this DVD into my DVD player I viewed a
screen that showed the Audio, Video and MPEG files. The audio was the only
thing that played. I don't know if I "finalized" the DVD incorrectly or what
I may have done.

I would like to be able to burn the DVD to play "automatically" in a DVD
player when inserted. If possible, I'd like to be able to take my current
version of my DVD (wmv) and convert it to a file that plays in the DVD
player?

I'm sorry if I haven't explained this correctly. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Ok...it sounds like you created a Video DVD.
Some freestanding DVD players will not play
a home made DVD...not much you can do about
that.
