Mary are you there?
I reformatted my computer over the weekend and when I put my media catalog
and background files back into application data they did not arrange by name
the same way they were originally. As far as I can tell they are all
there--just another annoyance. I switched from FAT32 to NTFS. Would turning
the indexing off fix this or do I just have to live with it?

PS--I forgot to say I'm still running Windows XP and Office XP.

I'm not positive the following applies to your issue
but it may be worth a try to open the folder and go
to...View / Arrange Icons By / Name

To reverse from...A - Z or Z - A...click Name again.

I've tried standing on my head--the problem is some of the file names that
are strictly numbers are out of order.

Douglas, If I remember right, Office XP came with the media disk. The media disk
has its own setup, you might try re-installing the Organizer again and run all
from my disk. This will re-catalog the clips.

AS usual--it was a dumb problem with a silly/stupid answer--I reinstalled SP
2 and
everything's fine now. What was really silly was that the files opened
PERFECTLY on any other computer but my own. How SP 2 got messed up is
anybody's guess.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
