Discussion:
Where's the downloaded clip art?
(too old to reply)

I know this is an old issue but I am not finding recent threads on the
subject. Using Windows 7 and IE8, when I download Microsoft clip art, it
goes through all the motions of downloading to a temporary file and opening
clip organizer but the downloads are nowhere to be seen or found. This
morning, for example, I dowloaded a photo and took careful note of its
filename. When searching for it, it's nowhere to be found on my hard drive.
What do I need to do?

Usually when you download a clip from the basket on the Office web site it will
go into the Organizer. The download folder is in My Pictures, Microsoft Clip
Organizer. I don't have Windows 7 installed, but I assume it is there.
Could be your temporary cache is full. In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Delete,
you will want to delete the temporary files.

Thank you, Mary. I see that you have been dealing with issue at least since
2004! You are correct about the location of the clip organizer in Windows 7.
Clearing the temp folder (etc) did not resolve the problem. Again, I noted
the number of the downloaded file and it is nowhere to be found on my hard
drive. After the apparent (ghost) download, clip organizer does open up but
there's nothing there.

What is the number of the image? Can you copy it? After the copy, can you paste
it into a folder?

Sorry for the delay in responding, Mary ...

The image is J0448063.jpg and, yes, I can copy it and paste it into a
folder, a reasonable workaround if I were to need only one photo at a time.
But I'd still like to solve the greater mystery. Many thanks!

Do you have a lot of clipart you have customized? If not, rename your
Mstore10.mgc to Mstore10.old. Could be the Organizer is corrupted.
It is in a folder similar to this (Vista)(hidden)
C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Clip Organizer

While in Word or PowerPoint, and you open picture, clip art file menu goes to
the right of the opened document page and there are many icons associated
with clip art. The files are, Clip organizer, Clips Online, Other Search
Options, etc… To select a clip from online, you must first double click the
clip organizer and select the category you want to have the downloaded art
copy into before accessing the clips online.

Usually, clip arts are downloaded into the art associated group name or
categories, for example: computers, if downloaded, will go under technology,
than computers. Therefore, you will have to open technology, then computer
before accessing the online files to be downloaded.

There’s also a downloaded folder listed under clip organizer that might have
you previous downloaded missing files. Please read all instructions before
downloading your arts because in some cases, you will be instructed to
install some other files before downloading your arts.

Hope I am helpful and you are able to resolve your issue this time. Good
luck.
