Discussion:
Creating a digital Photo Library

I would like to create a digital photo library with Microsoft Picture
Manager. When clicking to open a picture, then right clicking on properties,
a list of properties appear on the right hand side including a description.
Is there a way to choose what to appear and what not to appear on properties
when this list is displayed? I know there is "more" and "less" to maximize
and minimize the list. But can one choose to the fields to appear by name?

Also, do you recommend any photo cataloguing coding system to accomodate an
unlimited number of pictures?

Is there any MS spcialized software to helo with digitial photo cataloguing?

Thanks

Dear Mary,
Thank you for your reply. I checked this software and it's really good but
mostly for slide shows and maybe personal use. Please let me know if you have
other more professional programs for corporate use. Otherwise, kindly let me
know the answer to my questions regarding MS picture manager.

Your help and prompt response are kindly appreciated.

I don't really have any recommendations.

There are many photo editing programs out there, starting with the pricey
PhotoShop, down to the free Paint.NET (www.getpaint.net)

Google has a manager

If you have an older version of Office, you can re-install the Photo Editor

The recently discontinued MS Digital Image
Suite included a Library that was excellent for
cataloging an image collection. Even though
there will be no further updates...you can still
download a trial version if you would like to
try it. The last retail version called: "Microsoft
Digital Image Suite Anniversary Edition" is
still available through some retailers.

discontinued but you can still

Guys,

When scanning in pictures last night to my library (750 pictures currently).
I had scanned in 39 pictures in one session when the 40th picture scan the
scanner failed. I then cancelled the event, however, the 39 pictures I had
scanned were deleted as well.

Can someone help me find where I can recover the pictures. I spent almost 4
hours scanning and editing these pictures and would prefer not to do it again.

Best Regards,

Charles

In cancelling the event...you apparently closed
the software that you were using for the scans.
Which library are you referring to?

You could check your temp folders but I suspect
the scans are lost.

You cannot scan directly into the Digital Image Library.
The scans would have opened in the Digital Image
Suite Editor. And you should have seen them in
the Stack on the right of your screen.

(FWIW...you can save multiple files by going to.....
Touchup / Batch Edit / Save As)

You should have seen the Save warning when you
closed the program unless you used ctrl-alt-delete.
I'm thinking you need to re-scan the photos.
