Find Mstore10.mgc, rename it to Mstore10.old

It is in a folder similar to this: (hidden)
C:\Documents and Settings\<<user>>\Application Data\Microsoft\Clip Organizer

Vista
C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Clip Organizer

I deleted all the clipart from the hard drive in the Office Collections and
then deleted mstore10.mgc
I start Clip Organizer and Compact the database
mstore10.mgc is recreated

I still have a list of all the files; wmf, gif, jpg, mid, etc. with
thumbnails in Office Collections folders.

Since the files are no longer on the hard drive, I don't want them there,
can I also remove reference to them in the Clip Organizer?

Is there another file that Clip Organizer uses to catalog clip art files
that needs to be deleted or cleared?

Are you online when you open the Organizer? What happens if you turn off the
online option? Is there a small world icon next to the thumbnail?

If the clips are no longer on your computer and you have deleted the .mgc file
the Organizer is cataloging online clips.

I am able to delete some of the icons.

After awhile, when I attempt to delete the icon, the picture is removed but
the icon with the name of the file remains and is not deleted.

Is there some temp file that needs to be cleared to continue deleting the
remaining icons?

When the files are deleted from the hard drive, there is a yellow X in the
lower left corner of the icon.

The Office Collections are on the hard drive. These are the ones I'm trying
to clear from the Clip Organizer.

The Web Collections are online. Those I'm not concerned with.

Thanks

Can you see the thumbnails in the Picture Manager?
Vista
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OIS\thumbnails
XP
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local\Application Data\OIS\thumbnails

These thumbnails can be deleted.

Do you have some program installed that caches thumbnails?

Have you looked in "My Pictures", Microsoft Clip Organizer folder?

I don't know where the thumbnails would be. Type %temp% in Windows Explorer
address bar. You can delete everything in this folder although I would recommend
keeping Office setup files.

Here's a screenshot that shows the empty icons that I'm not able to delete -

Loading Image...

When I click on 'Remove Thumbnail', there is no affect.

Thanks

Looks to me like it is looking for the clips on your CD. Office XP came with a
Media Disk, is this how you installed the Organizer? Do you have this disk? The
Disk is called CNTCD1. I wonder if you went into the Control Panel and found
Microsoft Office XP Media Content and you could uninstall it there.

As stated earlier - I am able to completely delete the links in the first few
folders.

When I attempt to delete links further on, as shown in the screenshot, the
image associated with the file/link are deleted but the link remains.

????

Seems that there is some limitation on the number of links that I'm able to
delete.

Ralph, I don't have any answers for you. You might be better served asking this
in an OS discussion group. All I can surmise is the clipart was installed from
Disk 2 of Office XP, if you still have this disk, it maybe helpful to re-install
the Organizer from this disk and then try to un-install it from the Control
Panel.
This article shows how to install the disk. Scroll down.
