MS Office Sounds - not saving

I periodically change assigned sounds in Windows programs, including those
under the header Microsoft Office in the Sounds Control Panel. I usually
have no trouble.

Lately, however, I cannot get assigned sounds to save specifically for the
Office sounds. I assign a sound and save the changes to the sound scheme.
Next time the control panel is closed and opened again (including on reboot),
the saved scheme no longer has anything saved for any MS Office sounds. I
have the sounds downloaded and installed from MS. Seems to be a recent
problem.

Any ideas? Thanks!

By the way, using Windows XP and Office Professional 2003, if it matters.
