I have read back over a number of posts regarding copyright infringement in
the use of clip art photos. Lots of helpful information, but I still have a
couple of questions:
1. I have gone around and around in circles trying to find the specific
clause often cited that says: you may use the images as long as you are not
using them as a logo, and as long as you are not specifically selling the
images. Please pin down the location.

2. What is the relationship between MVPs and Microsoft itself, are they
designated spokespersons? If I take their advice on copyright use/terms,
does that indemnify me?

3. Is there a contact point at Microsoft (in the Int. Prop. Group, for
instance) that can tell me which vendor provided specific photos in the
collection? I have attempted to sort through the collections of the vendors
listed, but the volume is overwhelming.

4. Are there limits on the damages/claims available to the photo providers
if it turns out that in spite of my best efforts, I have still violated their
copyrights?

Thank you so much for your help!

The following info seems clear to me but you
may find that you need to discuss it with your
attorney.

2. What is the relationship between MVPs and Microsoft itself,

The MVP Award is presented to individuals who
volunteer their time answering questions in the
newsgroups.

The following site offers more info on MVPs.

are they designated spokespersons?
=================================================
Absolutely not.

=================================================
No. The advice from any MVP should be given no
more weight than you would give to any other individual.

If you expect legal issues to arise from your use of
MS Clip Art you should discuss it with your attorney.

Aside from the vendors that are listed in the left pane
of the clip art site in the Providers section...I don't
know of a way to identify them.

Sorry...we cannot offer legal advice...this would have to
be discussed with your attorney. If lawsuits arise the courts
will have to decide the outcome.
