I want to insert a horizontal line in a form. I would like to use a
pattern/style that is already available in my MS Office 2003 - Word program,
and which I have already used several times as a "page border". I can
see/select the page border by clicking on Format> Borders & Shading...> Page
Border tab> then choosing the pattern from the "Art" pull-down menu. HOW CAN
I FIND/USE THE SAME ART AS A HORIZONTAL LINE ??? I cannot even find what
file contains the artwork! (To describe the border: it is a white on black
Celtic-sytle interlacing pattern, approximately two/thirds down the pull-down
list) IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET THIS PATTERN TO BE A HORIZONTAL LINE IN THE
MIDDLE OF A PAGE? I have tried selecting the art, then clicking only the
bottom section of the preview area, but the line appears at the very bottom
of the page, not in the midst of the text on the page (my intention is to
have 3 or 4 of these horizontal divider lines on the page). Any help out
there? Thanks so much for any information!

Hi Eileen,

I've tried various ways to get Word to create this as a positionable
horizontal line and can't - and the graphics for the borders in Word are
actually stored not as a jpgs or pngs, but as bdrs, so I don't think that
will be of much use either. But I can offer you a workaround if you really,
really have to have this particular border.

In a blank document, create the page border using the Celtic style, and
deselect the top and sides so that you get one line appearing across the
bottom of your page, just as you've described. Next do a print screen, and
then paste the print screen into your document. Now using the crop tool from
the picture toolbar, trim away everything from the print screen until you're
just left with the horizontal border. Finally, right click the picture of
the border and check the size - mine was automatically reduced to 45% to fit
the page, so you may need to resize it to 100% (or as large/small as you
prefer to fit the margins of your page).

You'll need to adjust the text wrapping to accomodate you're new border
graphic, and then simply cut and paste wherever you need it.

Hope it's not too late to be of help.

Cheery!
