I am wondering how to edit clip art from online. I do the normal right click
and edit picture is something I can choose. It allows me to change picture,
but that's it. If you search for women, you should see three black shadow
figures one with a red purse, the other with something around her neck and an
animal print purse and one with a green purse.

I can't seem to edit or format it...it's not the only one either, but just
the example I used.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Most of the clipart online that can be edited within an Office program have .wmf
extensions. The particular image you are acquiring about is a .jpg, a raster
that can only be edited in a paint type program.

Greetings! I'm trying to edit a picture that I know was grouped (in versions
of Word previous to 2007). In particular, doing a clip art search for
"computer", there's one with a green background with a man holding a cable
above his head, red necktie flying. I once removed the background from this.
Now, I can't seem to make it work. It's a .wmf...I inserted it into a Word
document, right-clicked, but Edit Picture is not available.

???

Thanks,

Was the edited clip re-inserted into Word? How are you getting the image into
2007 from your earlier Word document, copy/paste? If you paste special do you
have a choice of .wmf?
Do you still have the image number?

Ok, more info as I've been playing with it. I've found that if I change the
text wrapping to "in front of text", which is how I ultimately want it (free
to move anywhere on the page), it makes Edit Picture unavailable. If I
insert it and first try to Edit Picture, it's available. Only problem now is
selecting all the billion pieces and trying to group them and move them where
I want the pic on the page. The actual artwork I'm playing with is
j0234657.wmf. When done editing, I click on the Home tab, choose the Select
arrow in Editing, and choose Select All Objects. I draw a big marquee around
the picture, but only the background autoshape gets selected. Under Arrange
in the Format tab, the Group button isn't available, and there are many too
many tiny pieces to shift-click...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Do you have a draw program? Serif is offering DrawPlus free, it maybe easier to
do your editing.

I try not to do any editing in Word, especially 2007. If you have Publisher it
will be more suitable to what you are trying to do.

Unfortunately, I don't in this setting. I'm a teacher and I'm trying to show
my students some basics about manipulating clip art in Word. I've tried all
the different text wrapping settings in order to freely move the clip art,
but they all seem to disable Edit Picture. If I edit the clip art first,
there's no good way to select up all the pieces to group them and then change
the text wrapping settings...
