sound file will not play only internet ones will

insert sound file from powerpoint it does not play only the ones from the
internet. Clap does not play, telephone does not play. No I am not making the
powerpoint presentation and saving it and then going somewhere else. It is
just opened on my computer only.

Is your sound driver current? Have you tried the support documents from the
manufacturer's web site?
There are sound options in the Control Panel, maybe something is turned off.
