Office picture manager missing print options

I don't know if this the right place for this question, but here goes.

Issue that we have affecting Office Picture Manager 2007, though it also
affects Picture manager 2003 on the same machine, and also Windows Photo
Gallery.

When you go to the print picture wizard, you have three drop down menus at
the top. One offers you different picture sizes (A4, 18x13, 5x8, 4x6), the
next would -normally- give you options as to the print quality, and the third
normally gives you a list of what paper types you're actually going to print
on.

We have Vista Ultimate X64 hooked up to a Xerox Phaser 8560 Colour laser,
and while printing from any other application is fine, when printing from the
above mentioned applications, it 'bypasses' the normal printing options page.
The issue is that the quality option drop down and the paper size drop down
only list "Automatically Select".

Using a different printer, we get -some- options, but not as many as the
same program and same printer connected to an XP system.

Any suggestions?

There are support documents on the Xerox web site as well as a Beta driver.

Thanks for your support, Mary - we already have the latest drivers from
Xerox, and have also been in touch with their support department. They have
deduced that the printer software is working perfectly (You can print fine
from any other application except the photo printing wizard)

They have implied very strongly that it's a problem with the Microsoft
software and have suggested that I bring my search here.

This is a printer issue.

Did you click "options" at the bottom of the print dialogue page? There is a
check-off, maybe experimenting different settings can help. I know when I clear
the *Only show options that a compatible with my printer* I get some other
options depending on the printer I choose.

Unticking the box gives you a couple of extra paper size options, but the
quality remains on "automatically detect"

I've passed on your comments to the technical support people a Xerox and
they have re-iterated that from any application that uses the standard
printer-driver dialogue box, there is no problems, so therefore the issue is
a Microsoft one.

I don't know who to believe now, but given that there aren't many options
available even with a different printer altogether, i'm still inclined to
believe them.

This is a Vista problem. Might do better asking in a Vista forum.
