Discussion:
Downloading Clip Art
(too old to reply)

When trying to download clip art files, I am asked to sign the Microsoft
Service Agreement and to enable cookies via the Tools dialogue box. Despite
enabling cookies by this method, I am sent back to the Agreement page each
time I click the I Agree button of the agreement page.

I am using Computer Associates Internet Security Suite and wonder if this
may be blocking the enable process. I do not find CA's customer support the
most 'user friendly' I have come across, so am posting my query here in case
someone 'out there' can help.

Thanks a lot.

Have you tried putting Office in your trusted area?

In Internet Explorer, tools, security tab, click trusted sites, click "sites"
button, clear "require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone."
Type http://office.microsoft.com in the "Add this website to the zone:" click
add.

Look at your firewall settings.

Thanks for this advice Mary. I have gone through the trusted sites exercise
but am still returned to the Agreement page each time I click the Agree
button.
At one stage, following my original posting, I had another attempts and
amazingly was taken to the download page. Great, I thought. However when I
pressed for download, there was an error message saying the service was
temporarily unavailable - so maybe it's a problem with the Microsoft website??
Anyway, it's back to a circular tour of the Agreement page at the moment, so
maybe it's best to wait 24 hrs and see if it changes.
I did send the same query to Microsoft from the Feedback column on the left
hand side of the Agreement screen, but doubt I shall get a response.
I have downloaded clip art successfully in the past, so am at a loss for a
solution - and £40 for technical support on a query like this that may be a
Microsoft website problem seems a bit heavy.
Cheers,
TomCat

P.S. I even just tried temporarily disabling my firewall (!!!) and tried
again, but still did not get through to download. Must conclude it's a
Microsoft problem??? Trouble is, when you're a 'lone user' and not backed up
by a massive IT department, it's hard to know if it's you at fault or not...

Can you accept ActiveX controls? Look in Add-ons and see if the Office control
is enabled. Internet Explorer, tools, manage add-ons. "Show: Add-ons that have
been used by Internet Explorer."

This is the address of the ActiveX control for the Office clipart
http://office.microsoft.com/templates/axinstall.aspx?

I know with some Office applications the license agreement has to be accepted by
the administrator. After that it is never seen again.

Hello again Mary,

I tried again this morning (and a couple of days ago) and (on both
occasions) was not presented with the Agreement page but with the ActiveX
successfully installed page, so all seemed to be going to plan. I then hit
the download button and came up (again) with "This service is temporarily
unavilable. Please try later".
It seems to be it's a Microsoft website problem - and the trouble is there
is absolutely no way to flag this up to Microsoft without paying their £40
tech help fee - or at least none that I can find. Does anyone know better?

I have been getting the same error for weeks. After reading your posts, and
Mary's answers, I think I have fixed it. I also have Computer Associates
Security Suite. So, after doing all the things Mary recommended (except
emptying my cache and moving my temporary folder), I realized that I also
have to make the Microsoft Office site "trusted" in the Computer Associates
Firewall.

Double-click your security suite icon, select Firewall, then "advanced
settings", then "privacy" and then "manage sites". When you add the site,
use www.office.microsoft.com instead of the http: prefix.

This seems to be working (for now). I am so glad I read your posts so I
could finally get to the bottom of this! I hope it helps you, too.

This is the address of the ActiveX control for the Office clipart
http://office.microsoft.com/templates/axinstall.aspx?
I know with some Office applications the license agreement has to be
accepted
by
the administrator. After that it is never seen again.

Have you emptied your temporary cache? In Internet Explorer, tools,
Internet
Options, delete files.

P.S. I even just tried temporarily disabling my firewall (!!!) and
tried
again, but still did not get through to download. Must conclude it's
a
Microsoft problem??? Trouble is, when you're a 'lone user' and not
backed
up
by a massive IT department, it's hard to know if it's you at fault or
not...

Have you tried putting Office in your trusted area?
In Internet Explorer, tools, security tab, click trusted sites,
click
"sites"
button, clear "require server verification (https:) for all sites in
this
zone."
Type http://office.microsoft.com in the "Add this website to the
zone:"
click
add.
Look at your firewall settings.

When trying to download clip art files, I am asked to sign the
Microsoft
Service Agreement and to enable cookies via the Tools dialogue
box.
Despite
enabling cookies by this method, I am sent back to the Agreement
page
each
time I click the I Agree button of the agreement page.
I am using Computer Associates Internet Security Suite and wonder
if
this
may be blocking the enable process. I do not find CA's customer
support
the
most 'user friendly' I have come across, so am posting my query
here
in
case
someone 'out there' can help.
Thanks a lot.
