Discussion:
Restoring deleted clipart from organizer

I accidentally deleted a clipart image from the organizer in Office 2003. I
know the file name and location, and the Office collection where it formerly
resided. The file is still on my hard disk in its original location. I have
been able to manually add it to My Collections, but all of the keywords have
been stripped from the clip. I would much prefer to restore the clip to its
original status and location in the Office collection. Is there a way to do
this, short of reinstalling the program?

Thanks,

Russ

Have you tried finding your clip on the Microsoft Office web site? Is it a clip
you downloaded originally or did it come with your version of Office?
You can add your own keywords and categories. Downloaded clips are in My
Documents in a folder named Microsoft Clip Gallery.

Let's try this again. The clip art image that I deleted from the organizer
is an image that was included in the original clip art installation.
Specifically, the image file is BD18252_.WMF. It was originally located in
the organizer in Office Collections>AutoShapes>Networking. As stated in my
original post, the file resides on my hard drive in its originally installed
location on my hard drive, specifically C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\MEDIA\OFFICE11\AUTOSHAP\. There is no need to go looking for it on
the Microsoft Office web site or any other place. I'm staring right at it,
and have a very firm grasp as to its whereabouts.

As previously stated, I have been able to add the image into the Organizer
into My Collections. Doing so seems to have stripped the image from its
original keywords. I realize that I could manually enter new keywords to the
image, if only I knew what the original keywords were. What I would rather
do, and this is the critical part of my question so please pay attention, is
to restore the image back into the organizer to its orginal location and
status, ie. Office Collections>AutoShapes>Networking. In other words, I
would like to effectively undo the accidental deletion of the clip from the
organizer. I have even gone so far as to copy the catalog file
(OFFICE10.MMW) from my other computer, which still has the clip in question
cataloged in the original location in the organizer. Much to my surprise,
this had no effect. Can this image file, which is a part of the original
Office installation, and which still exists in its original location on my
hard drive, be restored to its original location and status in the organizer,
and if so, how?

Autoshapes, More Autoshapes?
You can download these autoshapes from the Office web site, that should restore
them back to your Organizer.

Unbeleivable. Mary, do actually read a post for content before replying?
I'm at a loss as to how to be more clear and precise as to my question. I
don't need to download the clip, I already have it. It resides on my hard
drive in it's original location as a result of the original Office
installation. If you need further clarification regarding this apparently
obtuse fact, plese refer to my earlier posts.

Just for argument's sake, I went ahead and downloaded the clip from the
Office website as suggested, and imported it into the organizer. It now
resides in the organizer at My Collections>Downloaded Clips>Communications.
It contains none of the original keywords that were associated with it when
it was part of the organizer as a result of the original Office installation.
However, it does a nice job of keeping its identical twin company, this
being the copy that I previously imported into the organizer from its
original location on my hard drive. That one resides in My
Collections>Unclassified Clips. So now I have two versions of the same image
in the organizer, neither of which contains the original keywords as assigned
by Microsoft in the original office installation, and neither of which reside
in their original location in the organizer, Office
Collections>Autoshapes>Networking.

Now here comes the part where reading for content becomes really important.
I would like for this image to reside in the organizer in its original
location, Office Collections>Autoshapes>Networking, and if possible, have the
original keywords tagged to it. In other words, as previously stated, I
would like for this image to appear in the organizer exactly as it did with
the original installation of Office. Same location, same keywords. Once
again, I am effectively trying to reverse my quite stupid and unforgivable
act of deleting it from the organizer in the first place. Think of it as an
immaculate restoration of the clip to the organizer. Can you assist me in
bringing to bear this quite specific and yet strangely elusive outcome?

Your attitude is not a real big incentive
to volunteers like Mary who is simply
trying to assist you.

Maybe you could right click the clip and
choose Clip Properties / Keywords tab
and add the keywords manually?
