How do I use the scanner in Vista?

In XP it was super simple to use the scanner. In Vista I have nothing but
trouble and can't get it to work most of the time. Does anybody have an easy
solution?

What is the brand and model of your scanner?

Are you scanning into Windows Photo Gallery
or some other software?

What happens when you scan? Do you receive
errors? What are the errors?
